Instructions for Running and Reviewing Spills
1. Navigate to the Spills Page
- Select a spill from the list.
2. Set Parameters
- Go to the Parameters page and select the desired parameter for your spill.
3. Run the Spill
- Return to the Spills page and initiate the spill process.
- Remain on this page until you receive a confirmation message indicating that the spill is complete.
- You will then be redirected to the Results page automatically.
4. Review the Results
- On the Results page, review the charts generated for your spill.
- Ensure the results are consistent with the expected outcomes, such as the example charts provided below.
5. Inspect Tributary Spills
- Pay close attention to tributary spills, particularly where they flow into the mainstem.
- Look for a noticeable change in concentration at the confluence.
- Ensure your tributary spill reaches the mainstem as expected.
6. Check the Spill Map
- Navigate to the Map page to verify your spill on the map.
- Ensure the pop-up charts at each river station are accurate and reflect the expected data.
7. Verify USGS Station Data
- Confirm that USGS station data appears on the map.
- If no data is available, a message will indicate this.
- Focus on USGS stations in major cities, as these are more likely to have available data.
8. Download Data Files
- Download the following files for further analysis:
- C vs X
- C vs T
- Flow Data
- Verify that all files downloaded correctly and are accessible.
9. Validate Flow Charts and Data
- Check the flow charts and confirm the date of the last recorded data from the flows data downloader.
- The date should be either today or yesterday.
- If reviewing on a Monday, the last recorded date might be from the previous Friday.
- Report any discrepancies in the flow data.
10. Check Barge Functionality
- Ensure that the barge functionality is working correctly and as expected.
